Sleep Apnea is a serious health condition that we have been treating in our office for the last 10 years. Dr. Huntzinger has taken special training and works with one of the top sleep specialty clinics in the area. Patients with Sleep Apnea may also snore and actually stop breathing at night which cuts off oxygen to their brain and other vital organs. In many cases this can lead to heart problems, excessive daytime sleepiness and premature death. A C-pap device is often used to treat this condition but oral appliance therapy can be used very successfully with mild to moderate cases as well as with patients who are C-pap intolerant. Dr. Huntzinger has recently been using the Somnodent Appliance with great success. An easy test to see if you might have Sleep Apnea is the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (click here to go to the test). You can also contact our office for a free consultation and advice as to whether you will need to see a sleep specialist or perhaps have a home sleep study done.
